Wedding Photography by John Morrison

Photographer's Profile

I began my career in photography as a portrait and wedding photographer. I made a transition to advertising and fashion photography and for 20 years I shot editorial and advertising for the major advertising agencies in the U.S. and Canada. I have operated a full time studio for 15 years and traveled extensively on location shoots.

Photography has been a wonderful vehicle for meeting many interesting people from all walks of life and has allowed me to shoot in incredible locations all over the world....from the smallest remote mountain villages to Paris and London and even a fashion shoot in the Louvre which was incredible in itself.

I've shot annual corporate reports, MP3.com being the most outrageous to date, fashion/lifestyle for advertising agencies and magazines as well as classic beauty and glamour in the old Hollywood Style.

My first big fashion shoot was for a Toronto designer named Linda Lundstrom and we flew into a small town in Canada to shoot up on the glaciers, hanging from helicopters and watching our chopper pilot fall in love with our model! That was 20 years ago .....my fingers are still cold!

My commercial advertising web site features a portfolio of images from projects such as Nokia's campaign which ran in all the major magazines, Life Stride Shoes, Candies, Journeys, Dockers, Duckhead Clothing, Arizona Jeans, Canon Copiers, Apple Computer, Supre Skincare and Tanning Systems, Sunkist, BMW, Volkswagon and Winston in Puerto Rico.....lots of fun projects.

I was awarded the Gold Award for Fashion [View Image] in Toronto and numerous awards for annual reports such as the YMCA [View Image].

For the past four years I have photographed weddings in the Napa Valley and San Francisco Bay Area. I have found the application of creative approaches used in advertising and fashion, when applied to wedding photography, gives my wedding photographs emotion and life.

Photographing weddings is extremely enjoyable and I personally value the rewards of contributing something as cherished as your wedding photography. Working on a one-to-one basis is a breath of fresh air and being part of such an important occasion is a most satisfying experience for me. My working "motif" is to capture your day in both a traditional (formal) and a journalistic style in color and black & white without being an intrusion on the wedding day.

Your wedding photos should represent the joy and emotions of the wedding day and be keys to opening that door allowing you to relive the events in heart and mind. It is my opinion as every couple joining in Gods' institution of marriage are unique in his eyes, so should the photography of a wedding.

I enjoy working with couples who are interested in creative photography and who are seeking something unique. An enthusiastic couple makes a camera shutter very happy! Be as imaginative and creative or as formal as you like.....after all it is your day!

My suggestion would be to look at various web sites and samples and to speak to photographers. Communication and collaboration of ideas, likes, dislikes, cares and concerns should be addressed with respect to the format of your wedding day. Seek a photographer with the style and personality that suits yours and brings you peace of mind.

I would be pleased to answer any questions or discuss ideas either by E-Mail or a telephone conversation.

Sincerely,

John Morrison
